Patient Rights & Responsibilities

Your rights and responsibilities as a patient at The Clinica.

Our Commitment

At The Clinica, we believe that informed patients receive better care. Understanding your rights empowers you to be an active participant in your own health journey. These rights apply to every patient who visits our clinic, regardless of the nature of their condition or the type of service they receive.

Alongside your rights, you also carry responsibilities that help us deliver the best possible care — not only for you, but for every patient we serve.

Your Rights

What you are entitled to expect

01
Right to Respectful Care

You have the right to receive care that is compassionate, respectful, and free from discrimination regardless of your age, gender, ethnicity, religion, disability, or socioeconomic background. Every member of our team is committed to treating you with dignity at all times.

02
Right to Information

You have the right to receive clear, accurate, and complete information about your diagnosis, treatment options, potential risks and benefits, and expected outcomes — in language you can understand. You are entitled to ask questions and receive honest answers from your healthcare provider.

03
Right to Informed Consent

No medical procedure or treatment will be performed without your informed consent. You have the right to understand what is being proposed, why it is recommended, what alternatives exist, and what may happen if you decline. You may withdraw consent at any time.

04
Right to Privacy & Confidentiality

Your personal and medical information is strictly confidential. It will only be shared with other healthcare providers directly involved in your care, or as required by law. You may request to know who has had access to your records at any time.

05
Right to Access Your Medical Records

You have the right to review and obtain a copy of your medical records upon written request. Requests will be processed within a reasonable timeframe. A nominal administrative fee may apply for copies.

06
Right to a Second Opinion

You are always free to seek a second medical opinion. Our doctors will support your decision and can provide referrals or share relevant medical information with another provider at your request.

07
Right to Refuse Treatment

You have the right to refuse any treatment or medication. Your doctor will inform you of the potential consequences of refusal and will document your decision in your medical record. Refusing treatment does not affect your right to other appropriate care.

08
Right to a Support Person

You have the right to have a trusted family member, friend, or advocate present during your consultation, unless their presence would compromise your care or the care of other patients.

09
Right to Safe Care

You have the right to receive care in a safe, clean, and hygienic environment. All clinical procedures follow infection control protocols and national safety guidelines. You have the right to be informed of any unexpected outcomes from your treatment.

10
Right to Complain & Appeal

You have the right to raise concerns, provide feedback, or formally complain about any aspect of your care without fear of it affecting your treatment. We will respond to all complaints promptly, fairly, and transparently.

Your Responsibilities

Helping us deliver your best care

Provide Accurate Information

Provide honest, complete, and accurate information about your health, medical history, current medications, allergies, and any other factors that may affect your care. Withholding information can harm your treatment.

Follow Your Treatment Plan

Follow the treatment plan and instructions provided by your doctor. If you have concerns about your treatment, discuss them openly rather than stopping treatment without consultation.

Keep Your Appointments

Attend scheduled appointments on time or notify us as early as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule. Missed appointments affect your care and the availability of appointments for other patients.

Treat Staff & Others With Respect

Treat all clinic staff, doctors, and other patients with courtesy and respect. Abusive, threatening, or violent behaviour will not be tolerated and may result in your removal from our care.

Meet Your Financial Obligations

Pay for services received in accordance with our fee structure. If you have concerns about the cost of care, speak with our administration team — we will work with you to find a solution.

Ask Questions

Ask questions if you do not understand your diagnosis, treatment, or instructions. Clarifying information helps ensure you receive the best possible care.

Feedback & Complaints

How to raise a concern

If you have a concern about your care, we encourage you to speak directly with your doctor or a member of our administration team. Most concerns can be resolved quickly through open communication.

For formal complaints, please submit your concern in writing to our clinic manager at info@theclinica.com.np. We aim to acknowledge all written complaints within 2 working days and resolve them within 14 working days.
